AquaCloud represents a new innovation platform that will bring together expertise from fish health managers, researchers and data scientist to give new insights from the massive amount of data generated by the industry every day. Increased focus and knowledge on data supported analyses will support the Cluster’s ability to take proactive measures on indications of an escalating biological situation by combining experience based intuition with fact based analyses.
Pilot project
The pilot project has been designed to predict lice development over 1-2 weeks on cage level and evaluate financial and biological effects of proposed actions.
Data has been provided by Lerøy, Marine Harvest, Grieg Seafood, SalmoNor, Bremnes Seashore and The Institute of Marine Research. Additional data has been supplied by BarentsWatch. The Sea Lice Research Centre will contribute with the latest research and knowledge in the Pilot project.
AquaCloud has a great potential to support our partners in many innovation areas to improve biological performance and reduce mortality by targeting more effective methodologies in brood stock management, Feed and Disease Management, says R & D Manager Björgolfur Hávardsson, and even lay the foundation for new and innovative ways to do research, develop and manage the global aquaculture business in the future.
Working with IBM-Watson
IBM Watson Data Platform and their considerable knowledge within the areas of data security, data management and data handling will host AquaCloud. Watson will be the brain in the digital intelligence applying predictive analytics methods and technology to address the fish farm industry’s challenge with sea lice.
Recommendations for future data standardisation
Specification of routines/procedures for harmonization and enhancing quality of data used in the Pilot are to be addressed. This will include procedures for cleaning the data and to enhance the quality of the data in the pilot. Proposing recommendations of actions for future data standardisation for the Cluster will be an important outcome from the Pilot. Newsletter_Aquacloud
