Video training materials within RAS

To reach the Clusters goal of sustainable growth and innovation, the need for new and updated training materials within recirculation aquaculture systems (RAS) has increased.

Background

Environmental challenges, such as escapes and salmon lice in the aquaculture industry, lead to the desired growth not being achieved in the region. The aquaculture industry therefore invests significantly in the development of new and environmentally friendly production technology, recirculation aquaculture systems (RAS).

Mapping has revealed that there is a great need for digital training and course material in order to be able to offer continuing and further education to employees who work with RAS at both breeders and suppliers in aquaculture. In addition, it has been revealed that both the University in Bergen, Western Norway University of Applied Science and Vocational technical college in Hordaland will be able to benefit greatly from using a digital library in their teaching.

Project goals

In the project the target is to produce a complete video library within RAS. In order to offer a complete video library it will be necessary to produce approximately 50 films of 2-3 minutes with accompanying questions for testing/evaluation of knowledge within the subject area.

The courses will cover the following fields: water quality, biofilter, technology, production, feeding in RAS, welfare challenges and wastewater treatment.

Access to the videos for our members and partners will be gained through Blue Planet Academy e-learning platform or by logging into Seapoint.

Progress

The project is finished and 50 videos has been uploaded to Seapoint.
