About the event

Gill diseases are a significant challenge in the global freshwater and saltwater fish farming industry. In Norway, gill diseases are identified as the most important cause of reduced growth, poorer fish welfare and increased mortality in fish farms. In recent years, the challenges related to gill health have increased.

As a measure, FHF has awarded a grant to the GIllHealthAct project ( https://www.fhf.no/prosjekter/prosjektebasen/901911/ ), which has as its main goal
To develop an evidence-based framework rooted in empirical and historical data for best practices that support and promote optimal gill health in salmon.

In order to build this framework, we depend on dialogue with the industry and with this in mind, we would like to invite you to a professional day for gill health on April 10th in Bergen, mainly for fish health personnel in PO 3-5.

Some of the questions we want to answer during the meeting are:

What characterizes good and bad gill health?

What tools do we have today to diagnose gill health-related challenges and what tools are we missing?

Based on the tools we have available today, can a national standard be created that can be implemented throughout the industry?
