What kind of farming industry do most people want?

The Norwegian aquaculture industry is facing many difficult choices. What characterizes a sustainable aquaculture industry? How to balance environmental concerns and fish health? How to design the tax, ownership and licensing system? What role should the authorities have in these choices? What does the industry think? And not least important: What does the public think?

To gain more knowledge about these difficult choices, we have invited researchers from Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) to a dialogue about the future of the Norwegian aquaculture industry.

Program

  • Brief presentation of the research project Rebalance* , Professor Arnt Fløysand, HVL.
  • What environmental consequences of aquaculture are Norwegians most concerned about? And what do they think about taxation of the industry? by Anders Dugstad, NMBU
  • The industry's view on ownership, tax and sustainable development.
  • Open for discussion in plenary.
