How does the fish's immune system affect robustness, smolt quality and risk throughout production?

We invite members and scientific partners to a professional networking meeting focusing on how immunological principles can be used to understand and optimize biological processes in the hatchery phase.

The fish's immune strength and response are affected early on by factors such as stress, environmental conditions, nutrition and system load, often long before deviations become visible in production. This is precisely why immunological knowledge can provide an important basis for assessing robustness, understanding variation in smolt quality and detecting biological risk earlier.

The professional meeting brings together fish farmers, research groups and technology suppliers to share insights and discuss how immunology can contribute to better decision-making in hatchery production.

Program:

  • What is the word? How is your health ? and welfare of the fry ? Ewa Harasimczuk, Veterinary Institute
  • The role of osmolytes, zinc and feed technology in skin health . Antony Philip, NOFIMA
  • Skin like first-line defence : in the defense of the mmun role by the transition to sea and meeting with new bacteria . Christian René Karlsen, NOFIMA.
  • Strengthened skin health through nutrition. Renate Kvingedal, Cargill
  • What we can do learning from human medicine: renal physiology and calcium regulation in salmon. William Harris, STIM
  • Tailor-made hatchery fish, what can we learn from other food producing industries? Ole Gabriel Kverneland, Salmon systems
  • Immunology as the key to robust fry: what can the immune response tell us about the biological status of the fish? Karin Pittman, Quantidoc

If you have any questions about the program, please contact trude@seafoodinnovation.no

If you would like to participate in the meeting and your company is not a member of NCE Seafood – please contact trude@seafoodinnovation.no

After the Professional Meeting, we move from insight to practical application.

Together with QuantiDoc, we invite you to a workshop, where the topics from the professional meeting are lifted into a more operational context:

How can immunological knowledge be used in practice for better production management, earlier risk understanding and stronger biological control in hatchery production?
