The international project Aquabalance will investigate strategies and best practices for balancing economic, environmental and social sustainability in the aquaculture industry.

By providing new knowledge and research-based recommendations, Aquabalance aims to strengthen the sustainability and viability of the sector across Europe.

Background
Aquabalance is designed to support the EU's Farm to Fork strategy by contributing to more sustainable growth in the aquaculture industry.

The project will develop pan-European and regional policy recommendations and prepare a transnational policy roadmap that can be adapted to regional circumstances.

Project goals
The aim is to develop a balanced approach to economic, environmental and social sustainability in European aquaculture, and to provide industry stakeholders and decision-makers with practical and actionable insights.

Progress
The project is currently in the planning phase, focusing on identifying regional challenges and collecting data to inform future recommendations. First results are expected in 2025.
