NCE Seafood contributes to the project with arenas for providing expertise within the circular economy and circular business models in the seafood industry.
Background
Biosirkel was initiated by NORCE and addresses how Western Norway will succeed in the transition to more sustainable production and extraction, efficient resource utilization, utilization of side streams and residual raw materials into high-value products, production of new feed resources and other products.
Project goals
The goal is to develop and realize green business development and increase circularity across blue, green and grey sectors. Key challenges are
- Develop collaborative networks and increase collaboration across sectors
- Improve resource utilization
- Managing economic risk in the transition to a circular economy
- Increasing knowledge about enabling biotechnology and scaling
- Develop sustainability analyses adapted to biocircular value chains
Progress
The project started in 2022 and runs until 2028.
