The Norwegian aquaculture industry is a major consumer of plastic, and the fishing and aquaculture industry accounts for 46% of the identifiable marine plastic pollution in Norway.
Plastic is an important resource in the aquaculture industry, but improper handling can lead to plastic equipment going astray and contributing to marine litter. This poses a threat to both the environment and marine wildlife. At the same time, plastic is a resource that can in most cases be recycled and turned into new products if handled and treated correctly.
Through this course, you will gain insight into how the aquaculture industry works with plastic management today, what challenges the industry faces, and how you can help reduce plastic pollution and ensure a more circular use of plastic in the future.
