AquaCloud takes important steps towards better fish welfare through data sharing
The company has received significant funding of NOK 12.2 million, which will help further develop the platform and make aquaculture companies better through joint data sharing. AquaCloud has had fantastic growth in a short time and is already delivering value to 32 players representing 55% of the salmon biomass in Norway.
– With this funding, we will develop the company further and make aquaculture companies even better together through data sharing, says Kristian Blom, CEO of AquaCloud.
Collaboration over ownership
AquaCloud's development is driven by collaboration rather than ownership, and the company continues to operate as a neutral player working for the entire aquaculture industry in Norway.
– Sharing data within a secure legal framework and strong governance principles is something the entire industry can benefit from, and we believe this type of collaboration will be crucial in handling some of the challenges we face going forward, Blom continues.

Financing: An important milestone
With the financing in place, AquaCloud will increase its activity, hire more resources and strengthen cooperation with various players in the industry. Björgólfur Hávarðsson, a familiar name to many in the industry and who previously worked with us at NCE Seafood, is already in place as business developer. They will also hire resources in project management and technical development of the platform.
More employees and technical development mark an important milestone for both digitalization and data sharing in the aquaculture industry, and AquaCloud is well equipped to realize its ambitions for further growth and increased value creation.
Building an internal team will be an important priority for us, and we are confident that there is great interest in working with AquaCloud and all our partners, says Blom.
