NCE Seafood has strengthened the team with two new employees: Thea Båtevik and Susanne S. Hellesø
We welcome our two new colleagues to the team!
Thea Båtevik takes on the role of Competence Manager at NCE Seafood, where she is responsible for the competence programs offered by the cluster. She has a background in marine biology and has worked throughout her career at the intersection of oceans, sustainability, innovation and competence development.
In recent years, she has been an innovation consultant and project manager at GCE Ocean Technology, with a particular focus on renewable energy, recruitment and development of the ocean industries. Previously, she led a major regional project against marine litter under the auspices of Fjordane Friluftsråd, and also has broad experience in communication and knowledge sharing through, among other things, the Passion for Ocean festival.
Thea is interested in how knowledge can create development and new opportunities, and sees the seafood industry as one of Norway's most important industries of the future. She wants to contribute to increased collaboration, competence building and recruitment across stakeholders, with a particular interest in sustainability and animal welfare. Through expertise and collaboration, she believes the industry can develop solutions that lay the foundation for long-term growth, increased trust and more sustainable development.
Now she looks forward to getting to know the member companies and helping to develop relevant meeting places, networks and competence initiatives that strengthen the seafood industry .
Susanne S. Hellesø starts as a Seafood Trainee in NCE Seafood, where she will be responsible for networks and communications. She has a professional background in marine biology and aquaculture, with a bachelor's degree in Biomarine Innovation from NTNU in Ålesund and a master's degree in Ocean Resources from NTNU in Trondheim.
Throughout her studies, she has combined her interest in the seafood industry with innovation, entrepreneurship and research. This spring, she completed her master's thesis in collaboration with SINTEF Ocean, where she investigated the potential for including microalgae in the starter feed for salmon, with a focus on how this affects the fish's intestinal health.
Susanne is motivated by the rapid development of the seafood industry and how it faces future opportunities and challenges. She wants to help put current topics on the agenda, while also having the opportunity to see the industry from new perspectives and learn from the players who are helping to shape it.
She is now looking forward to taking the leap into the seafood industry through the Seafood Trainee program. Here she will have the opportunity to build on her professional expertise, while also getting to know the industry and the people who drive it forward.
