Less than 6 months after the completion of Cargill's new NOK 90 million fish health center in Chile, the company is now further strengthening its research capacity in seafood nutrition with the opening of its new NOK 10 million laboratory in Dirdal – at the same location where the Cargill Innovation Center (formerly EWOS Innovation) has conducted research for more than 30 years.

Cargill has a long tradition of investing in R&D, and this represents an important milestone for the company, which has the ambition to be the leading player in fish nutrition research.

The new laboratory builds on world-leading expertise in fish nutrition research and analytical capabilities, which have helped establish Cargill's global reputation as a leading innovator in the salmon feed industry.

A key factor in Cargill's R&D success in the aquatic area is close collaboration and knowledge transfer between personnel and researchers in the laboratory, pilot plants and fishing trials.

“We have been looking forward to moving into new, efficient premises. Having world-class laboratory facilities right next to our fish trial units and pilot plant will give us new and invaluable insights into how raw materials, nutrients and feed production methods affect the performance of our products. The new laboratory will further strengthen our work in raw material development and our already leading knowledge in this area, enabling us to accelerate our product development programs and bring new solutions to market much faster,” says Daniel Barziza, Global Aqua R&D Director.
