The article was first published on Kyst.no

The Entrepreneur Christmas Gift is a competition aimed at entrepreneurs in aquaculture and contains practical entrepreneurial assistance in a number of areas in addition to a cash prize.

The prize should give the winner a unique opportunity to launch and commercialize a new idea, product or service for the aquaculture industry.

Kyst.no can now reveal that the winner of this year's Entrepreneur Christmas Gift is the company MicroClean.

Scientifically confirmed

The company's technology involves using wet heat using microwaves and "radiation." The company's method achieves an effective killing of all pathogenic bacteria, as well as biofilm, according to SINTEF, of over 99.99% on all plastic production aids.

– It feels absolutely fantastic to get confirmation that we have done something right, says founder Dan Roger Olsen of MicroClean AS to Kyst.no.

He says their technology can disinfect conveyor belts while production is ongoing, and that it is green technology with protection.

– This is a technology that many people could use. The jury said there was weight in what we represented, and emphasized that what we represented was scientifically confirmed.

The MicroClean technology has been developed together with the research communities NOFIMA in Tromsø, SINTEF in Trondheim and the University of Karlsruhe.

One of the world's largest radiation groups working towards aviation, space technology and the automotive industry has been involved in designing and delivering the technology.

After completing the work, the following conclusion has been scientifically confirmed, according to MicroClean.

  • The invention is the first in the world in its field.
  • Kills at least 99.99% of pathogenic bacteria in and on plastic production aids
  • Scientifically documented by SINTEF
  • Measurable technology
  • Green technology and no use of chemicals
  • The technology falls under the UN's Sustainable Development Goals 3, 9, 12 and 17.
  • Approved technology by the EU/EEA for food production
  • The technology is easy to retrofit
  • Patented and owned by MicroClean AS
