The NCE Seafood has for three years facilitated good innovation projects between industry, academia and the public sector. The new strategy calls for an expanded collaboration with entrepreneurs and the capital environment to contribute to increased sustainable growth in the seafood cluster.
In addition to the existing focus areas of Knowledge and Innovation, the new strategy includes Entrepreneurship and Commercialization as a new area of activity and services. This will contribute to new ideas, products and services for the further development of the entire value chain in the seafood cluster. In this way, Norway will be positioned globally as a center for innovation, entrepreneurship and capital in seafood and attract talents, companies and capital that support the work for sustainable growth in seafood.
The NCE Seafood
The NCE Seafood represents one of the world's largest and most complete clusters in an industry that delivers 37 billion meals worldwide every day. Here we find the world's largest producers of Atlantic salmon, offering sustainable seafood to customers in more than 70 countries worldwide. In total, the cluster represents 90 players from across the value chain, with a combined annual turnover of 10 billion dollars.
Due to its unique global position and importance for Norwegian value creation, the seafood cluster was granted status as a Norwegian Centre of Expertise in 2015, one of 14 NCE clusters in Norway. NCE Seafood is a project that aims to promote sustainable growth of Norwegian seafood through strategic collaboration at the intersection of business, research and education. The goal is a forward-looking, innovative and sustainable Norwegian seafood production.
