Over 1,000 participants followed the launch of the 2023 Fish Health Report live
The report highlighted the importance of focusing on fish health and welfare to ensure sustainable growth in the seafood industry. It is based on public statistics from both the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and the Directorate of Fisheries.
An exciting news
An exciting new feature in this year's edition is the inclusion of data from AquaCloud's fish health database. This is an initiative developed through close collaboration between us at NCE Seafood and our cluster members.
Insight into fish health is important
Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Cecilie Myrseth was not present, but had submitted a video that was shown on the broadcast.
- Good fish health is important for management, it is important for the industry, but it is also important for consumers and the fish. There have been too many unfortunate cases recently, and a mortality rate of over 15% is not good enough. The annual Fish Health Report is important. The work of the Veterinary Institute provides insight into the health of Norwegian farmed salmon. The report is an important tool for assessing the status when it comes to fish health. It is also useful for us as authorities to follow developments.
Trude Jansen Hagland, CEO of the food company NCE Seafood, was the moderator of the broadcast together with Edgar Brun from the Norwegian Veterinary Institute.
