Course on good plastic management
Module 5 of the course on plastic management in the aquaculture industry has now been launched and is available! This module will contain information on how management can facilitate good working practices and facilitate change.
Did you know that fisheries and aquaculture account for 46% of the identifiable marine plastic pollution in Norway?
To prevent marine litter and ensure better resource utilization through recycling and reuse of plastic used in the industry, NCE Seafood has developed an online course on plastic management in the aquaculture industry together with Bellona, NTNU and Grieg Seafood.
The course consists of 5 modules that show, through practical examples, how to implement good working practices for handling plastic equipment. There is also a separate module that shows how management can facilitate employees to prioritize good equipment handling and recycling.

Target group:
- Employees in the aquaculture industry who handle plastic equipment and their managers
- Employees in the service industry and their managers
- Aquaculture apprentices and students at aquaculture farms
After going through all the modules you will:
- Have more knowledge about plastic as a material.
- See the unfortunate consequences for nature when plastic goes astray.
- Know more about the consumption of plastic throughout the aquaculture industry
- Be able to prevent plastic from going astray, reduce waste and ensure a longer lifespan for the equipment they use.
The course will be available in English in October 2024.
