The project "πππ₯π π’ ππ₯ππ¦" β challenge or resource?
The aquaculture industry produces large amounts of fish sludge every year⦠But did you know that this sludge can be a valuable resource?
...But the salt from seawater creates challenges for recycling, including in the production of biochar.
The project "πππ₯π π’ ππ₯ππ¦", funded by Vestland County Council , brings together actors across the value chain to find sustainable solutions:
π Aquaculture: AS Bolaks and Scale Aqua
π₯ Pyrolysis: BioLand
πΏ Biochar application: TOPPE GARTNERI Nils Gunnar Toppe and GreenHouse
π¬ Research: NORSΓK, NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research and Norwegian School of Economics (NHH)
π€ Cluster: NCE Seafood
Together, the project participants are researching:
1. How salt affects the pyrolysis process
2. Whether biochar from salt sludge can be used in agriculture or industry
3. Economic models for a circular value chain
Through NCE Seafood, our members participate in research projects that provide new knowledge and contribute to developing sustainable solutions for the seafood industry!
