On Wednesday, October 2, we presented the latest report in our Industry Insight series: “Talent Attraction in the Seafood Industry.” The report provides a good foundation for understanding the challenges and opportunities inherent in recruitment to the seafood industry.
Despite growing awareness around talent attraction in the industry, there is still great opportunity to improve strategies and increase the attractiveness of the industry.
Highlights from the launch
NCE Seafood CEO Trude Jansen Hagland welcomed the audience and introduced the background and purpose of the report. Hagland emphasized that she hopes this report will increase the industry's knowledge of the drivers behind students' career choices and how they view the industry as a potential employer, and be a valuable contribution to strategy development within talent attraction.
Lena Bekken, who led the work on the report, presented the most important findings and suggestions for how the seafood industry can position itself as an attractive employer for future talents.

In addition, two case stories from the industry were presented by Synnøve Autestad and Ida-Marie Andersen, who shared insights into specific measures that companies have implemented to attract the right people.

Finally, a panel discussion was moderated by Fride Iversen from NCE Seafood. The panel included Kristin Iversen from Vestland County Council, Øyvind Fiksen from the University of Bergen, Jenny Kvamme, student representative, and Siren Grønhaug from Lerøy Seafood. Together, they discussed the way forward to strengthen talent attraction in the seafood industry.
