What is Seafood Trainee?
Seafood Trainee is a one-year, company-oriented junior program for young candidates with bachelor's/master's degrees in biology, technology, fish health, aquaculture, economics, social sciences, marketing and law. The program offers intensive work experience in a company, where participants receive basic training in the company's overall operations while following a common academic program.
Academic program
The academic program has spanned four 3-day modules. The modules have had themes that have covered the entire value chain in the seafood industry, such as production, research and technology, marketing and sales, and innovation. The themes have been deepened through company visits to industry partners and knowledge actors, case studies and workshops where the candidate has worked on issues directly related to the partners in the cluster.
Expansion workshop
At the last gathering in Bergen, the candidates went through a two-day expansion workshop, where the trainees conducted a strategic analysis of the participating companies' expansion into new markets. The trainees themselves selected which cases to work on during the gathering, and the different cases focused on:
a. Entry into a new geographic market
b.Development of new products/concepts that are sold to existing or new markets
c. New distribution/sales channels that "skip" distribution links and communicate directly with consumers
Ulriken and Cornelius
To show Bergen from its best side, we had a seafood dinner at Ulriken where we got to see Bergen from "Bergen's roof" and on day two a boat trip to Cornelius where the trainees got to see our beautiful archipelago from its best side. PicMonkey Collage3 Group photo
