Sixth graders will solve challenges in the seafood industry
From left: Gry Sæterdal from Ungt Entreprenørskap, Nina Stangeland, CEO of NCE Seafood and Fride Iversen from NCE Seafood look forward to collaborating to make the seafood industry attractive to 6th graders in Western Norway.
Together they will develop an industry-related training program linked to Young Entrepreneurship's teaching program, SMARTere teknologi. The goal is ten innovation camps annually for sixth graders.
By stimulating creativity, innovation and innovation, the students will be able to contribute to solving challenges in Western Norway's most important industry. The meeting between the sixth graders and the seafood industry can sow the seeds for future recruitment in the industry, and if seafood gives you a taste for more, it can open the way for more people to find their way into relevant educational courses, says Nina Stangeland, CEO of NCE Seafood.
Future competence
In the project, students from grade 6 will be able to collaborate on solving real problems that the industry is working on, and the program will thus be beneficial for all parties. The students will also have the opportunity to get involved in local challenges, which can contribute to value creation in their own local environment. It will also promote a general interest in innovation and entrepreneurship, while gaining insight into one of Norway's most important industries.
For many, the process of choosing a career starts in primary school. Collaboration between schools and the business community is therefore important to highlight the career opportunities available to students. The seafood industry needs smart minds, creativity and innovative power to solve challenges related to sustainability and development, and the project can make it clear to students that it is an exciting industry with many opportunities, says Fride Iversen, senior project manager at NCE Seafood, who is responsible for future competence and talent attraction.
