It is the young people who will develop the industry further. We are rooting for our students and hope they will do well in the national competition, says Gry Sæterdal, general manager of Ungt Entreprenørskap Hordaland.
Young Entrepreneurship promotes collaboration between education and the business and industrial sectors. Through local inventor camps, students have solved real challenges with guidance from industry professionals. The students at Austrheim High School qualified for the national final by being voted best in the county.
Major investment in school
The seafood industry is developing rapidly, and school textbooks are outdated. In Rings of Water, professionals have contributed their expertise to make the learning relevant. Nationwide, over 3,000 students have participated in the project.
– This is the largest ever effort from the seafood industry in schools. In addition to gaining updated knowledge about the seafood industry and using their own creativity, I hope many young people have had their eyes opened to the exciting job opportunities that lie within our industry. I look forward to seeing what ideas the young people come up with in the final, says Janita Arhaug, leader of Sett Sjøbein.
