That was one of the key questions when Ragn-Sells Havbruk AS and NORCE Norwegian Research Centre , together with us at NCE Seafood , organized a seminar on sludge and the EU-funded AquaPhoenix project.
We heard about both the challenges and opportunities associated with creating circular value chains based on sludge from aquaculture. Several concrete solutions were presented, including in the fields of technology and bioeconomy.
The AquaPhoenix project shows how important collaboration is. Here, actors from business, research and administration work together to develop new solutions. It is precisely this type of interaction that we need more of!
At the same time, there are several challenges that need to be solved, which were highlighted in the two panel discussions.
It is about:
• Profitability
• Logistics
• Technology integration
• New business models
• The need for political facilitation
The seminar brought together over 50 participants, and we are left with the impression that the commitment and willingness to find sustainable solutions is great.
Our own Solveig Holm led both the seminar and the panel discussions with a confident and steady hand, and ensured good discussions throughout the afternoon👏
The way forward requires collaboration, knowledge sharing and political courage. We believe in the power of human innovation. As Hans Kleivdal from NORCE Norwegian Research Centre said it during the seminar: “20 percent is about technology. 80 percent is about people.”
Slum may not be glamorous 💩 but the potential is huge!!
