Voted by a jury and the public
The jury, consisting of Maria Bøthun Hanedalen from DNB, Sander Lie from Pareto and Björgolfur Hávardsson from NCE Seafood, assessed the companies based on four criteria: environmental impact, business idea, team and growth potential.
– Remora Robotics scores high on environmental impact. Their solution reduces the need for impregnation of nets that currently contain copper and cause heavy metal emissions, says Björgolfur Hávardsson from NCE Seafood on behalf of the jury.
The jury also says that the company has a good business model and great market potential.
– A worthy winner with enormous growth potential that we look forward to following in the future , says Hávardsson .
Provides more opportunities
The winners of the award will receive 100,000 kroner, membership in NCE Seafood, two free passes to NASF 2024 and a diploma. The winner will also have the opportunity to present themselves at the newly established Coldwater Seafood Show in Amsterdam (value 3,000 euros) and three months of free membership in the Future Ocean Incubator.
The Seafood Innovation Award was established to facilitate sustainable development and innovation in the seafood industry, and it is also intended to stimulate entrepreneurship and recognize innovation in new companies.
The award is presented in connection with the three-day North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF), the world's largest seafood conference.
The nine nominated companies presented themselves and their work on Tuesday and the award was presented today. The criteria for being nominated as startups for the award were that they had developed a product or service and were seeking potential customers, partners and/or investors.
