The Veterinary Institute, NCE Seafood and Tekna collaborated on the digital launch event where the report was presented. It was also handed over to both the Minister of Fisheries and Ingunn Midttun Godal of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.
– The fish health report gives us a truthful picture. It gives us something to work with and to work towards. Unfortunately, the main conclusions show that unfortunately too many fish are getting sick and too many are dying. We have to do something about this and we have to do it together , says Minister of Fisheries Bjørnar Skjæran.
Important report for the industry

Nina Stangeland, CEO of the NCE Seafood industry cluster, moderated the launch broadcast. She says that fish health is important to the cluster.
– Fish health is one of the biggest challenges for the industry, and the great interest in the Fish Health Report underlines how important this is. Therefore, the Veterinary Institute's report is significant for our partners and members, and the industry as a whole , says Managing Director of NCE Seafood Nina Stangeland.
The report from the Norwegian Veterinary Institute, which was launched today for the 20th time, provides a clear status update on the health and welfare situation for Norwegian farmed and wild fish.

Cooperation
At the digital launch, the report was reviewed, in addition to a subsequent seminar with Kysten rundt med fish health services, professional lectures and a panel discussion.
The partners say they are pleased that there has been such great interest in the launch, with over 800 registered and over 900 following the broadcast.
– We are very pleased to have this collaboration with NCE Seafood and Tekna on the launch, and greatly appreciate how this has built up into an important event for everyone concerned with farming and fish health and welfare , says Director of Communications Asle Haukaas at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute.
– Tekna is proud to be part of launching the Fish Health Report from the Norwegian Veterinary Institute. This is an important professional effort to document the condition of our farmed fish, says Mattias Bendiksen Lind, board member and fish health biologist at Tekna Aquaculture and Fish Health.
He further explains that fish health biologists at Tekna actively contribute important field information to the report.
– We hope this year's report will take us a step further in improving fish welfare, says Lind.
