NCE Seafood Innovation believes that new competence is key when working towards sustainable growth in the seafood industry. Innovative solutions requires creative and fresh thinking, and who better to provide it than the future leaders of the industry. Over the next 10 weeks we are lucky to have four interns joining the NCE Seafood Innovation team full time.

We are very excited to have Vilde, Susann, Kevin and Maren join our team, and of course we want all of you to get to know them better as well. We asked them to tell us about themselves, and here is what they have to say:

We are four students studying Master of Science in Business with specialization in regional economics and regional economics at HVL. This spring we are so lucky to have a ten week internship at NCE Seafood Innovation.715 / 5 000

Maren

My name is Maren Sognefest, I am 25 years old and come from Bergen. From Høgskulen på Vestlandet I have a bachelor’s degree in economics and administration with a specialization in administration and management. In addition to my studies, I have a part-time job at Tryg Forsikring. Here I have had to sharpen my skills on various work tasks, which mainly consist of customer care.

I am really looking forward to the next ten weeks; the internship fits well with my master’s specialization area. Both innovation and cluster activities are subject areas that are central parts of the curriculum. I envision that I will learn a lot – especially about how the seafood industry is adapting to a world that is constantly changing, and how they are working to achieve the UN’s sustainability goals.

Kevin

My name is Kevin, I am 23 years old and from Bergen – and like Maren I have a bachelor’s degree from HVL with a specialization in administration and management. In addition to my studies, I work at Sbanken as a customer consultant and study psychology at UiB. During my bachelor’s degree, I was introduced to VIS Innovation and it opened my eyes to innovation and the valuable role it plays in the big picture.

I believe the seafood industry is and will be one of the most important future industries in Norway – especially in terms of sustainability and circular economy. I look forward to learning more about this, as well as taking part in it. It will also be interesting to see how the cluster can contribute to more sustainability in the future.

Susan

My name is Susann. I am 22 years old and live at Osterøy. I have a bachelor’s degree in economics and administration with an accounting education at BI. In addition to my studies, I have gained work experience from several areas through part-time jobs. From this I have learned about customer care, various administrative tasks and accounting programs, as well as how to handle a hectic work day.

I find the internship at NCE Seafood Innovation to be very interesting as it fits the profile of my masters degree well. I look forward to seeing how NCE Seafood Innovation works as a business cluster and how the various work tasks are.

Vilde

My name is Vilde and I am 24 years old. I have a bachelor’s degree in economics and administration from Bl in Bergen, with specialization in business development and digitization. In addition to my studies, I have worked part-time in the insurance industry, with main tasks in internal consulting, sales support and process improvement.

The studies has given me insight to how innovation and technological development are crucial to success. Like Kevin, I am curious about the seafood industry, and how opportunities for sustainable growth can be realized.

We look forward to using theory in practice, and taking part in projects in one of the country’s foremost environments for innovation. The goal is to leave here with a lot of valuable experience after completing the internship. We also have a burning desire to learn how NCE Seafood Innovation uses big data, as well as technology to provide valuable insight.
We also hope to learn much more about the industry, as well as the role of NCE Seafood Innovation in the big picture as a contributor within competence and innovation.
