HAVlunsj: Marine minerals

At a glance

Welcome to HAVlunsj where the topic of discussion will be marine minerals from a company and cluster perspective.

HAVlunsj is a series of lunch meetings held by VIS, Maritime Bergen, GCE Ocean Technology, NCE Seafood Innovation Cluster, Marineholmen and NCE Maritime CleanTech. HAVlunsj is an informal meeting place for the maritime industries, with a focus on skills development and network building.

This time, the HAVlunsj is held by GCE Ocean Technology.

The energy transition requires a large increase in access to minerals. The IEA estimates that four times as many minerals will be needed in 2040 than today, in order to meet the climate goals in the Paris Agreement. For metals that are central to energy conversion, growth is estimated to be much greater.

The deep sea contains several important minerals that are central to the energy transition. In this HAVlunsj you will learn more about the global drivers, challenges and opportunities for a new maritime industry. Cluster companies will talk about their work with technology for a more efficient mapping of the resource base in the deep sea.
