SFI The SFI will focus on bringing environmental data and physiological/biological data together using deep tech methods within sensorics, big data and artificial intelligence, meeting the criteria of the present announcement and delivering on all aspects of our new Cluster strategy and KPIs.
The aim is to reduce time to market for cutting edge innovation, develop decision support based on 360 degrees situational awareness and proactive management plans.
An SFI backed by the industry
The industry partners supporting the application, MOWI ASA, Lerøy Seafood ASA and Grieg Seafood ASA have contributed to the development since 2017, ensuring industry relevance and coordination of efforts. With the smaller members Bolaks AS, Bremnes Seashore AS, Eide Fjordbruk AS and Lingalaks AS contributing as the project developed.
The academic partners in the application are NORCE, The University of Bergen, Institute of Marine Research, Nofima and The Norwegian Veterinary Institute.
The purpose of the Centres for Research-based Innovation (SFI) is to build up and strengthen Norwegian research groups that work in close collaboration with partners from innovative industry and public enterprises.
Workshop for shaping the centre
Central stakeholders have been contacted as the consortium behind the present SFI initiative will invite a wider selection of industry partners to refine the concept and build a strong consortium focused on cutting edge innovation and new solutions for the industry. The finalised application will be delivered on September 25th 2019 and, if all goes well, a centre is opening in Q2 2020.
