Background

Based on an interview with Cluster members back in 2017, there was a need to re-design the educational programs in vocational technical colleges in RAS/closed/semi-closed systems. Together with project «KABIS», OINC (Ocean Innovation Catapult), Western Counties and Vocational school, we have set an ambition to develop new and more updated educational programs for the industry, including Continuing Education and Professional Development within new production methods.

Funding of 1,5 MNOK

In December 2018 we received funding of 1,5 MNOK for establishment of new education programs in RAS/closed/ semi-closed systems. The achieved funding comes from Vestland County, Rogaland County and Møre & Romsdal County

New course within RAS

The University of Bergen will together with RAS-lab launch a completely new course of 5 credits, which will provide basic insight into an applied knowledge of biological, environmental and technological processes that are central to fish farming using recycling.

The course will provide a basic understanding of the interaction between the fish’s physiology, water quality, operations of biofilter as well as the technical structure and function of various components in a RAS system.
