TechTour Ocean is a program designed to support start-ups based in the EU or implementing within the EU to develop sustainable solutions across a wide range of ocean innovation, including green maritime/shipping decarbonization, carbon dioxide removal from the ocean, harvesting (food and materials), ocean energy, and, of course, clean oceans.,
Who is Catchwise?
Catchwise’s goal is to revolutionize the fishing industry with data. They utilize modern web solutions, data sharing, and AI to help fishermen spend less time and fuel to meet their fishing quotas. The aim is for fishermen to catch more fish at a lower cost and effort, while reducing carbon emissions in the ocean and the world. A win-win situation!
Their history started when Jonas and Ludvig gathered a team of talented tech minds to participate in the Fish AI competition organized by NORA and Vekstlandet. The competition focused on using machine learning to predict where to find the most fish in the future. We dedicated our holidays and afternoons throughout the summer to build the solution Lodestar. Against over 40 other teams, our solution emerged victorious, correctly predicting 46 out of 70 positions for 10 types of fish, 7 days in advance, along the entire coast of Norway.
