Aquabalance

Exploring sustainability strategies in aquaculture

The international project Aquabalance will investigate strategies and best practices for balancing economic, environmental, and social sustainability in the aquaculture industry. By providing new knowledge and evidence-based recommendations, Aquabalance aims to boost the sustainability and viability of the sector across Europe.

Background

Aquabalance is designed to support the EU Farm to Fork strategy by contributing to more sustainable growth within the aquaculture industry. The project will produce pan-European and regional policy advice and develop a transnational policy roadmap adaptable to regional specificities.

Project Goals

The goal is to create a balanced approach to economic, environmental, and social sustainability within European aquaculture, providing industry stakeholders and policymakers with practical and actionable insights.

Progress

The project is currently in the planning phase, identifying regional challenges and gathering data to inform future recommendations. Initial results are expected in 2025.
